Documentation: Keeping track or recording your progress as you do your work. Help with reflection and meeting your project goals.

Performance: Another form of presenting/showcasing art/any sort of work. *doesn't have to be on a plain canvas*

​

Great art: What is 'great'. Who decides which art is 'great' and which art isn't.

​

Subject: The subject the tangible object/person you use to convey your idea/content? A content is different to THE subject.

​

Form: The different techniques or ways of producing/presenting art?

​

Strategy: The different methods of using the subject to convey the content using different forms. The idea behind using everything the way it is used. 

​

Truth+Fact: What's true? What can be true? It's more true than untrue. Can truth be false? Can something that's untrue be not false?

​

Visual Culture: ideas, customs, social behavior, perspectives of a particular thing in a cultural context or sub-group.

​

Hierarchy: The ranking system that's been set by someone; you, society, canon, a cultural group. Varies as context/surrounding changes. Visible in language, signs, culture etc.

​

Active Resistance: Constantly thinking about why and how rather than just stating you dislike or disagree with something.

​

Field: An area of endeavor base on knowledge.

​

Cultural legitimacy: To speak, adopt a style. Hierarchy of style in that particular field.

​

Historiography: Process of writing history or the study of that process. 

​

Post modernity: Impact of modernism; reaction from modernism.

​

Modernism: birth of an era from the industrial revolution with the invention of steam engine.

​

Semiotics: Study of signs. Sign exist everywhere in every form. Architecture, hierarchy. 

​

Iconic sign: Figurative or literal.

​

Indexical sign: Usually refers to other knowledge. eg: cloud=rain.

​

Symbolic sign: Has a meaning because we agree they do. 

​

Syntax: study of the rules for the formation of sentences.

​

Infantile amnesia: Inability of adults to retrieve episodic memories as infants. usually the period before 3 years old.
